Hello everyone welcome back to a new blog post! Today I am going to be writing about my favourite beauty products of 2016 as it was very requested on my Instagram,@typicallyizzyy.The products I have chosen to review are the best of the best, which I have enjoyed through out the year and I hope you enjoy reading the reviews!
Barry M Mascara– At the beginning of this year I went out trying to look for a cruelty-free mascara that was brilliant but not tested on animals, I wasn’t really expecting much when I was looking around Boots but then I saw the Barry M counter. Barry M mascaras looked gorgeous in their heavy, almost expensive like, packaging but then I wondered will the mascara actually be like the ones from Rimmel or Maybelline? I picked up That’s How I Roll mascara and found it had the exact same brush as the Maybelline Lash Sensational and every since then I have never looked back on trying a mascara from another brand. Both mascaras lengthen, curl and add extra volume and they don’t turn clumpy after a long period of time because no one likes a clumpy mascara! For the price and the packaging I LOVE Barry Ms mascaras and they are so worth it! Barry M mascaras have definitely been my favourite mascara brand of 2016.
Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 08–I just love a Kate Moss lipstick especially ones that are perfect for an every makeup look. I bought this lipstick in January and I fell in love with it, I wore it everyday to school and every weekend when I was wearing makeup. However 4 months down the line it ran out so I chucked the lipstick out and decided to try a Barry M lip crayon, which was just as good but not a natural colour for school. So last week I picked it up again and I have been wearing it for the past week and I can’t believe I stopped using it. The lipstick is in a pinky/purpley nude colour and I am OBSESSED with it.
Miss Sporty Stay Time Concealer-Around April last year I decided to only start using cruelty-free makeup products (I still try to now but there are just some products I will never be able to stop using!) and I was using the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer but I wanted a concealer with a bit of coverage. As there was a 3 for £5 deal on all Miss Sporty products, those deals always draw me in, I bought this concealer and I wore it for around 3 months and I loved it more and more each day until I bought a new Collection concealer. Then about a month ago I found the concealer and I have fallen back in love with it. It is more of a coverage concealer than a brightening concealer which I prefer. Personally I think that this is one of the best concealers I have ever used and for the price you can’t really go wrong.
Facial Cleansing Pads-I love anything to make my skin looking smooth and feeling soft so when I picked these Cleansing Pads up in Boots in the Boxing Day Sales I knew I had found myself a bargain! The first time I used these brilliant silicone pads they got rid of the dry skin on my face as they are so gentle at exfoliating but also so effective on my skin. I now use these every time I wash my face in the morning and it feels so fresh to use a facial pad, it really helps wake you up! Even though I have been using this product for a couple of weeks I still think it deserves a mention as it is a cheaper alternative to buying a Clarasonic Facial Brush and it is a lot softer too.
Real Technique Beauty Sponge-I have got to admit I was quite a slow joiner on the Real Technique Beauty Sponge bandwagon. I had only used brushes before hand and I thought that they were just as good and that there is no need to buy a sponge as well. However last Christmas I received a light up mirror and I realised how streaky my foundation was on my skin and it was because of the brush I was using. I firstly bought a Claire’s Accessories sponge and it was so dense and hard to use and then I gave in and bought my first Beauty Sponge as it was buy 1 get 1 half price. Ever since then I have not used anything else to blend in my foundation and concealer because I find that the sponge gives your foundation such a natural look on your skin. I also got given another sponge for Christmas, which I will use in the new year, the sponges are honestly amazing and I totally recommend you going to try them out! I don’t know how I did my makeup before these brilliant sponges.
Spectrum 10 Piece Essential Kit-When I had my old blog over on Blogger, Spectrum Collections got in touch with me and wondered whether I would like to try out their vegan and cruelty-free makeup brushes. After owning the Real Techniques Core Collection I was pretty sure that no other brushes could beat them but I was totally wrong! After 4 months of owning my Real Techniques ones my brushes started to loose their hair and the writing started to come off, which I wasn’t too pleased about. Once my Spectrum brushes arrived they we so much softer than they looked on the website and the packaging off the brushes are just GORGEOUS! Around 5 months later my Spectrum brushes are still going strong, not one of the hairs have have fallen out. I would totally recommend these brushes and for the price of £40 for 10 (1 for £4) they work out cheaper than Real Techniques!
Soap and Glory Breakfast Scrub-I love using Soap and Glory and when it comes to using their Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub you can’t go wrong! Before I originally got this, every time I walked into Boots I would always take the lid off and smell it. If you have never smelt this before, where have you been??? It smells like cookies and I could literally eat it. Now that I have got my own tub of this I can tell why people rave about this, it leaves your skin super soft and the scent lasts for ages, I love this product so much! You NEED to try this!
Original Source Moisturising Shower Milk-When I was on the hunt for a shower gel that was cruelty-free I thought I might have to go on a hunt for a really expensive shower (because I had never tried a cruelty-free shower gel before) but I found the brand Original Source. Original Source’s products are all vegan, cruelty-free and they use natural ingredients, which I find amazing for a shower gel that is around £1-£2. The flavours they come up with are incredible, my favourites are vanilla and raspberry, cherry and almond and apple and vanilla. For the price and quality of the shower milk honestly you are getting a bargain for your money and they are so cute to include in your Instagram pics!
Blistex Lip balm-Everybody needs a good lip balm in their life, for some if may be Nivea for others Carmex but for me if has to be Blistex! I think in the Winter alone I have gone through at least 3 of them as they are so moisturising especially when you have really dry lips. I love the way that when you have super dry lips it tingles when you apply it and this really makes you think that it is working and getting rid of the dryness! I think that this is one of my all year favourite products as I use it all year round and I just can’t get enough of it and if you have dry lips and you have tried everything before make sure to check out Blistex’s lip balms, you won’t regret it I promise.
Zoella Hungry Hands-For Christmas I received the Christmas hand cream from Zoella’s new range and I was so excited to use it as I hadn’t smelt the new products in Superdrug before. The hand cream is in a gingerbread scent which isn’t too overpowering but it makes your hands feel so silky and soft. Ever since Christmas I have used this hand cream, it smells delicious and I use it at least 4 times a day. I will definitely be using this all the way through 2017 too!
Thank you all for reading and I hope you have a great 2017!
